Good morning,
My name is xxxx. I am the mother of two children: an 11-year-old daughter and a 13-year-old son. My husband, Dariusz, worked for most of his professional life as an able seaman (AB) on ships under foreign flags. He sailed far from home, always with the intention of providing for our family.

On xx.0x.202x, Dariusz took his own life. This tragedy shook us to the core. He left me and our children not only in deep sorrow but also without any means to live. As a seafarer working under contracts, he did not pay ZUS (social insurance) contributions in Poland, which means our children are not entitled to a survivor’s pension.

I work in a government office as an administrative assistant, earning just slightly more than the minimum wage. Supporting a family of three on a single salary is extremely difficult in today’s reality. The children were deeply affected by the loss of their father. They need stability, psychological support, and sometimes just a sense of normal everyday life — which I cannot always provide.

I am turning to the In Mare Foundation for help. Any form of assistance would be a tremendous relief and a chance for a calmer tomorrow — especially for my children.

I called the agency xxxx that employed Dariusz and asked whether he was insured outside his contracts, but I was told that he was not. (…)

For many years, Dariusz worked at sea to provide stability for our family. Sadly, his death has left us not only with emotional emptiness but also serious financial hardship. As the sole breadwinner, earning slightly above minimum wage, I face the daily fear of what the future holds for our children.

The help we received from you allows us to breathe easier and offers a real opportunity to meet our children’s basic needs — educational, health-related, and everyday necessities. This donation is more than just financial support — it is a sign that we are not alone, that someone looked at our situation with empathy and care.

Once again, I sincerely thank the Foundation, the Founder, and everyone involved. I hope that the kindness you have shown us will return to you twofold.
