“Request for Assistance
My name is xxxxxx. I worked as a Chief Engineer on a commercial vessel.
In February 2023, during a contract aboard the ship “xxxxxx” operated by the company xxxxx, I had an accident while performing urgent emergency work related to the ship’s engine power supply system.
The incident occurred while transporting and connecting spare starter batteries to the ship’s system, which was necessary at that moment to safely enter port.
After docking the vessel and recording fuel and oil consumption data, I went to my cabin to complete the documentation on the computer. After sending it to the company, I lost consciousness and woke up in a hospital bed in Wales.
When I regained consciousness, I was informed that I had suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and was partially paralyzed. I spent 4 months in Cardiff Hospital, after which I was transported to Poland and placed in a hospital here for another 4 months, where I underwent rehabilitation. I was taught to walk again using elbow crutches. Eventually, I returned to my family home in Gdańsk in a difficult condition, with a significant level of disability.
To this day, I remain immobilized at home, only 46 years old and with no prospects for employment.
Throughout my career, I progressed from Engine Fitter to Chief Engineer.
Due to the circumstances of my accident, the insurer has refused to provide any form of compensation.
If possible, I kindly ask for your help”
